We are looking for a Mechanical Transmission Engineer (m/f) for Airbus Helicopters on its Marignane site

Our department is responsible for Drive Systems Design and Dynamic Systems Architecture in Airbus Helicopters. To ensure this mission, we are always improving our methods and developing our expertise in tests & simulation solutions.

Within the Design team, you will belong to the organization of specialists & experts and you will work in close collaboration with operational teams. You will be responsible for topics related to degradation ( rolling contact fatigue, spalling, wear ...) of mechanical parts ( gears, bearings, freewheels ...), monitoring of these degradations ( chip detection, oil monitoring ...), assessment and substantiation of the drive systems regarding these degradations, and the ways to minimize these degradations ( cleanliness, flushing processes ...). You will be accountable for design & knowledge capitalization, evolution of design and assessment methodologies, define & follow-up test campaigns, participate to development and certification activities.

This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.


As Mechanical Transmission Engineer, you will be in charge of:

Following flight, ground or bench tests (specification, preparation, follow-up, analysis and conclusion);
Supporting transmission systems certification and continuing airworthiness (in service incidents analysis, substantiation documents, direct discussions with EASA);
Defining and standardizing methods relative to particles detection of drive systems (in-service experience, tests experience, state of the art...);
Ensuring compliance of the drive systems to cleanliness requirements regarding design, manufacturing and operational life;
Developing & providing support for predesign phases regarding detectability and cleanliness;
Defining future technical orientation for Power Transmission Systems by contributing to Detectability Core Design roadmaps;

You will also:

Be interfaced with a lot of different Airbus Helicopters entities (stress analysis, work preparation, quality, production, test labs , flight tests, project, configuration, airworthiness, other design offices, program, customer support...) and transmission equipments suppliers;
Work in a close interaction with the whole Drive Systems Core Design organization, Experts and Compliance Verification Engineers ;
Have deep interactions with physical parts for tests and in-service investigations ;


You will have the following skills & experience:

Educated to 5 years' degree level (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering
At least 5 years of professional experience in one of several fields listed in this job offer ( damage monitoring , cleanliness...)
Synthesis spirit, rigorous, autonomous
Good communication skills & relationship, team spirit
Language Skills: Advanced level in English and negotiation level in French

Any of the following skills & experience would be plus:

Experience in aeronautical certification
Experience in reliability & statistics
